Product Development: StraitEdge Angler PRO

With kayak fishing quickly becoming the fastest growing segment in paddlesports, and society shifting towards a square footage downsizing with events like the Tiny House movement and the transition back to more urban areas, the StraitEdge Angler PRO was developed to address anglers’ desires of having a fishing boat with all of the “bells and whistles” without the limitations of today’s downsizing world. The StraitEdge Angler PRO is a prime-time fishing kayak that can not only be packed away in a closet, loaded into the Mini for a trip to the local lake, or flown by helicopter into remote mountain lakes, but can provide great performance as well.

The design of the StraitEdge Angler PRO features a patented rib-frame technology in the bow and stern, along with Drop-Stich technology in the floor, to provide an ultra-rigid kayak that’s not only incredibly stable but can track well in open water conditions. As shown in inflatable standup paddle boards, drop-stitch technology allows for the creation of high pressure forms that are extremely rigid. This feature on the Angler PRO not only creates a hull with chine, for added tracking ability, but adds superior rigidity for stand-up ability and provides more stability in rough conditions or while bringing in big catches. Of course stability and on-water performance are only a part of what serious anglers are looking for in a kayak. Higher up on their lists are items such as gear rigging, comfort, and propulsion, all of which the have been addressed. For gear rigging, the StraitEdge Angler PRO features an Accessory Frame System which offers a variety of easy access options. By adding aftermarket
1-inch rail-mounts an angler can customize the kayak with rod holders, a fish finder, or other equipment. For comfort, the Angler Pro’s aluminum frame seat with mesh paneling provides real support and comfort for long days, while a fin mount on the bottom of the kayak covers propulsion by providing a direct connection for a Current Drives ElectraFin, which can provide hours of hands free propulsion.
